Short scale guitar for 10 yr old?

My step-son is wanting to learn to play the guitar. Can anybody recommend an inexpensive short scale electric guitar? Or have one you wanna sell?

Thanks.

I have one of these at my house, it's pretty cool

I also have a cheap epiphone explorer GT, which has a full size neck and it sees more use with my kids.

my 8 yo son has been learning on a Squier Mini for about a year now. i had to crank down a few loose screws and tweak it a little bit to fix the intonation and get it to hold its tuning better, but for $100 i think it's an excellent starter guitar. sounds decent, too.

and most importantly, he loves it:

The Mikro is what I started my son on but, my son is 10 years old and playing an SG now. The mikro is a great for the price though. I had some gotoh tuners laying around so I replaced the tunners with those and set it up.
Not to bad for a beginner.

I've bought both the Mini Squire and the Mikkro for my grandsons. Both are decent guitars for the money, personally I favor the sound of the Fender but the Mikkro has a nicer feeling neck and fretwork. I got lucky on the Ibanez, Musicians Friend was selling the package for $125. as used, they must have been returns but I found nothing wrong with it. Being part of the pack it also included a amp, gig bag, tuner and other accesories. I just checked and they have one now.http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/p...ku=518875#used

A 10-year old can handle a full scale IMO, I'd rather buy something he can grow with.

Squire Duo-Sonic or Jagmaster. both have 24" scale.

I have a Jag-Stang... that is a short scale also but is a Fender and cost a bit more.

Wow! Lovely awesome!

I bought '63 Fender Duo Sonic for my boy (he is 10 now) and officially he gave it me back!
