Man, what a funk jazz legend. He was everywhere for quite some time. I'll bet he was a blast to hang with and jam with. RIP

RIP Melvin ! You''l be missed...

His trio played my little "venue" back in 2005 and he was hands down AWESOME!!

Dr. John & his band played across the street that night and after their gig , they came over to hang at Melvin's gig... we all hung out & enjoyed the set together.
Great Memories, GREAT guitarist, GREAT HUMAN !!!!

So sorry to hear this news. I worked w/ Melvin a little and he was cool as a cucumber and a very sweet guy.

R.I.P buddy...

I remember seeing him a couple times at the 880 in Hartford. Easy guy with which to hang and have a couple of drinks.

got a chance to see him down at the jewish mother in va beach... the breakfast opened and tim palmieri sat in for most of melvin's set. so much fun!! unfortunately no tapes have ever surfaced of that night, which isn't surprising, since there weren't but maybe 20 folks there....

RIP
