Fargen & Soloway

I can't get the gorgeous sound of that special Fargen amp and a Soloway guitar out of my head. It's been weeks since the LI Guitar Show, but that sound hasn't left me.

Anybody know of any recordings done with that combo? I've gotta hear more.

I think Jim Soloway made a few. I'm sure he'll chime in.

Fargen/Soloway Classic amp is not just for Jazz

Hi All,

I should mention that the Soloway Classic tube amp is not just a Jazz amp (even though it does a brilliant job at jazz)....but rather a super smooth 50 watt clean tube amp that works well for any style needing pure tube headroom.

We had many players of many different syles stop by the booth and they all loved Jims' guitars and my Fargen/Soloway Classic amp. The Fargen/Soloway classic amp even takes OD pedals very well!

So for those of you who have always dreamed of having a 50 watt all tube hand wired amp in the same form factor a Princeton reverb @ 37LBS.....your dream has come true

Kind Regards,

and that's the truth.... I spent the better part of 2 days playing Swans through Ben's Fargen/Soloway amp and was amazed
at the beautiful and broad range of sounds that the amp was
able to deliver. Everything from smokey subdued jazz tones
to beautiful dripping Blackface tones, to spanky twang and
even a good helping of some slightly gritty blues. A beautiful
sounding amp that inspires one to keep playing.

Thats my 2 Cents

Ben is currently designing an amp for me and that ball started
rolling because of the Fargen/Soloway Classic Amp and a
whole bunch of ideas that Ben and I started kicking about.

I took a serious minute to choose between the Soloway and the 4x6V6
30 watt Blackbird. Should be another month or so .....can`t wait

Why does this pairing remind me of Tuck and Patti?

Ben builds great amps. Being a customer of Ben's these last three years, the only comparison I can come up with is what it felt like being in Palo Alto when Tuck and Patti, Michael Hedges, Will Ackerman, and other great musicians came into their own. You know when something very special is waking up.

I would love to play one of Jim's guitars, as well. They exude brilliance.

That's why I'm afraid to buy either: Because I'd have to buy both.

Oh man, what sounds!! Were these with the 1 10 or? Is there a reason Ben doesn't do a 1 12 combo?

Mmmm, I see that you mention a Classic 12 but now the amp is only offered as a Classic 10 or head. ????

Hi Jon. These clips were done with the 1x10.

Originally there was going to be a 1x12, a 1x10 and a head. The prototype (which I used for the clips on my site) was 1x12. We went with the 1x10 for the initial production model primarily to reduce the size and weight. We were so excited by it that we decided that the 1x12 really wasn't necessary and wasn't worth the extra size and bulk. The Eminence neodymium speaker is a very different beast than a traditional speaker. It's rated for 300 watts and even the 10 puts out an incredible amount of sound. This amp is tiny, but everyone is amazed at how big it sounds.

I'll make it even more dangerous Jon. I have one here all packed and ready to ship. It could be at your house by Friday and I'll even pay for the shipping.
