Tubes glow blue the harder I strum.....?!

I am lost. I just put a fresh set of tubes in an amp recently and at low volumes it sounds ok but still not right. I noticed that the harder I hit the strings on my guitar the tubes will glow blue simultaneously with the strumming. Not real sure what that's all about but that isn't the part that is frustrating....the part that is frustrating is once it gets to a certain volume it starts getting really muddy and gritty and will even drop in volume and crackle. That is on the clean and gain channel. At somewhat high volume the clean channel doesn't remotely sound clean....or good for that matter.

If someone could point me in the right direction for a quick fix that would be great...just seeing if there is anything I can do to avoid taking it to a tech.

Why is that frustrating??? I used to stand behind my Mesa Mark V and just watch those powertubes pulse bright blue as I grinded power chords.

Haha it wouldn't be frustrating if it sounded good while it was happening. It's a Fuchs modded from a super bassman...sorry I meant to put that in there. Power tubes

The KT66's in my Germino Classic45 glow blue when played. The harder you play, the bluer they get. One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

The blue glow is normal. The tubes in my Silvertone pulse when the tremolo is on! Here's a pic of the power tubes in my Mesa/Boogie Express. These tubes lasted for a long time after this pic was taken.

Did you bias it?
Did you clean the sockets? (A bit of contact cleaner on the tube pins and work them in and out a few times) Bob

My new TAD 6L6 STR power tubes glow just like that.
I have read before that it is usually caused by a less hard vacuum in the tubes.
Or perhaps due to the materials used inside the tubes.

Either way, it's nothing to concern yourself with.
Now if the large plate structure starts to glow cherry red, well that is something to be concerned with.

I put Philips miniwatt EL84's in last few months, and they have a slight blue tinge. I was worried at first, but researched on web and found a few comments saying something about harmless blah blah.

Blue glow is normal in lots of power tubes, especially 6L6 types.

KCA NOS tubes explains this at their website.
