Recommend me an overdrive

Hey all

I have never bought an overdrive before. I play through a dual rectifier 3 channel and my 3 channels are pretty set and I'm real happy with em
A clean channel
A heavy chugging channel
And a lead channel

There are great overdriven tones In the amp but I just don't have the channel for it. I can roll the volume right back on my lead channel for a nice od sound but it has to roll off too far and is too quiet to use in the band

So basically I want something to run on my clean channel for a driven sound .

Low to mid gain sounscapey kinda sound. I like boutique stuff . Did some reading here and read about a bunch of stuff . The skreddy stuff seems highly regarded. Tried a mates tube screamer and it was ok but not for me . Didn't
seem to have much personality.

I wonder if you can dial a good sound from the amp, and then use a pedal for the lead sound?

Otherwise, there are hundreds of options. Everyone will give ideas on what's working for them.

My recommendation is to take your head to a store and try every pedal they have that could possibly work. Buy the one that sounds the best.

The Skreddy (in this case Screwdriver) is a great pedal. But honestly you'll have to try for yourself what works with your rig. If you can't try in a shop I'd start by ordering a few of the most highly regarded overdrives e.g. Honey Bee, Timmy, Screwdriver, DLS. Keep the one(s) that work for you.

Mesa, eh? Efficient power and rectification is your norm.

Get something with sag. Mix it up.

Small company, but awesome product: Surprise Sound Rock Block.

It sounds like an amp that is cranked because it has a preamp and powertube section. It has good cleans with just some added harmonic content from the tubes and can get plenty of distortion in the higher gain settings. It also have a 3 way boost toggle and that can be modded into an external footswitch pretty easily so you can set your gain and stomp a boost for a solo.

i'm a TS-808 guy. it's great for med overdrive with a lot of mids. i'm guessing if you're into heavy drives & dual rectifiers and stuff like that, that it might not be suited for you. but you should at least try one out. it'll give you that light SRV-style overdrive.

this is my band .

for the 1st half of the 1st track I'm playing clean . I'd like to keep that character to the sound but add a bit of nice ,clear, fat, drive to add to some parts . low to mid gain sounds
