Aftermarket Long Vibrolas for SGs?

Just as the title says. Most of the places I've looked say, for one reason or another, that theirs won't retrofit to an SG.

That was one of the places I had looked that said it would not fit an SG. I didn't know if anyone here had tried them or not and knew.

Allparts description says it won't fit. I think the reason is that the flat piece that mounts to the butt-end of the guitar, over the strap button, is too large and overhangs the back. You might be able to cut that piece(which might look a bit crude or funky), or have an entirely new one machined and plated(which would be expensive).

Exactly. Though I have to wonder what that vibrola is meant for if not an SG.

Anyway, does anyone have any other suggestions?

Any of the 335 family which are slightly thicker bodied.

The vast majority of SGs produced in the 60s would have had the short vibrola.

I see. Still, I do wonder if there are any nondescript long vibrolas that work with SGs.

The long vibrolas' don't wrap over the edge of the guitar, they simply screw down to the top of the guitar, and the long tail piece does nothing. The actual vibrola is the same parts, short or long.
