Installing the GK-3... what do you need to know?
Hi guys!
My GR-55 just arrived and now I need to decide in which guitar I should install the GK-3 that came with it... anything in particular I should know? Is one type of guitar better suited for the task than others? I have two 335s, a LPC, a L-5CES, a Mayones Maestro and a PRS SE EG w/tremolo. Any tip or trick would be more than welcome! I'm all ears!

Before you install, you can put the pickup under the strings and see which guitar will have better string allignment over the pickup, but then again since the GK3 has the ability to adjust its curve to suite guitar radius, I think you can easily fit on any guitar. The physical install should be easy using double sided tape.
If the tape that comes with it is not doing the job, 3M double sided tape has worked for me. The most important part about the installation is setting up the string sensor levels in your synth and making sure that you have similar sensitivity and all 6 strings. so on a scale of one to ten string level from the pickup should be 7 or above. If you can't get string levels above 3 or 4 then you should modify the curve or get the pickup closer to the strings. |

This comes from the roland V forums. They have a whole bunch of folks using the GK3 there.
This is for setting up a GK3 with a GR 55. http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=3100.0 That should get you on the right track. |
