What's your oddest road case?

I've been gigging for a lot of years, and while I have some pretty nice road cases, I've also got a few old beat-up cases that are pretty handy.
Right now, as I look around the music room, I'm using:

An old travel case I got from a retired vacuum cleaner salesman.
A soft-side case that used to hold a cam-corder, back when they were huge.
An army surplus radio trunk.
An old square suitcase for the 100 ft snake.

I've also seen more than one band carrying brightly colored cosmetic cases, slightly smaller than a bowling bag, for patch cables, adaptors, spare fuses and mic clips, etc.

Oh, and I've got one large case full of lights that we don't use anymore.... it came from a medical supply company that went out of business... it has "Human Blood" stenciled on it in huge letters.

What are YOU using to haul your gear around?

Not odd, but I still use my Anvil briefcase from 25 years ago.

I have an old school Anvil briefcase that I have fashioned into a pedalboard/case by removing the hinge and replacing with a couple of latches so the top could be removed.
I also stuck a couple of feet on the bottom of it so it wouldn't slide around.

Oddest roadcase i've ever seen- for a big gong. Was a giant square, about 6 feet high and wide- and the depth was about 4 inches.

I used to carry all my various loose items.....cables, pedals, strings, etc....in an igloo cooler that also doubled as an amp/cabinet stand on more than one occasion. Looked redneck as hell, but it worked great....and it was a WHOLE lot cheaper (and lighter) than a comparably-sized shock-mounted road case.

The oddest roadcase I've SEEN was for a national act we were opening for... The guitar player had 2 Marshall 4X12 bottoms side by side in one road case... the bottom part, with casters, was about 4 inches tall. The lid then fitted over both 4X12 cabs. (The guitar player had a stereo rack system to drive them.)

As I was putting my little 40 watt single 12" combo on the stage in front of them, I remarked to our bass player, "Now THERE's a guy who doesn't have to move his own stuff."
One of their stage hands heard me, and started laughing. (He later complimented me on my guitar tone.)

i had a case made years ago for one of my little silvertone combos...it's very narrow and tall and likes to tip over when you roll it.

Not a road case, per se, but sometimes my spare pedals live in a former ski-goggle salesman's sample case...it has 24 compartments which are just right for Boss/MXR–sized pedals in their original boxes.

I picked it up at a yard sale for $5.

I keep my picks in the clamshell case that my wife's birth control pills came in. It drives her nuts (in a bad way) for some reason.

I've got a couple formed soft-sided bags that were sold by Apple to transport the Mac and Mac Classic way back when, and I've been using them as my gig bags for at least 15 years... They have handles, shoulder straps and various compartments that can be set with velcro strips. They're filled with cords and capos and ear plugs and wahs and harmonicas and tool kits and extra strings and all kinds of various and sundry crap, and they're still in great shape considering the abuse they've suffered...

Oddest?

The one I'm most afraid to use. It was my Grandfather's doctor's bag- he used this thing for the better part of 50 years making housecalls as well as being the county ambulance and coroner. This bag has stories to tell. I have used it to haul pedals and cords, but I'm terrified I'm going to damage it- the vinyl on the inside is torn and separating (it was when I got it), but I'm most worried about catching the leather on something- or getting it ripped off.

I used this old suitcase for the better part of 10 years- put my bands' stickers on it, and friends' bands stickers.

However, these days, I'm boring and just use an old Dell laptop bag- it's got all the great pockets for notebooks, picks, knives, tools, flashlights... and enough to hold cords and pedals. It can also fit most of a change of clothes if I work it right.

Currently use these as well:
  1. Dell laptop brief case for tools/meter/tubes.
  2. Rubber maid tubs with lids for extension cords, guitar stands, outlet boxes.
  3. Wheeled overnighter padded out to fit 12 channel mixer.
  4. Heavy rectangular padded cordura bag for PA Speakon speaker cables. It was the shell for a demonstration kit for a computer based office phone system.
  5. Small LLBean under seater for mikes, mike cables, rca cables.
  6. Ford/Eddie Bauer sport duffel for two Par 64 LED cans.
