The "Albums You've Rediscovered" Thread
Pretty much self-explanatory. List some albums that you've come back to after a hiatus and realized how amazing they are.
I'll go first: "St. Elsewhere" by Gnarls Barkley. Such a fun album. I heard "Crazy" on the radio the other day, and remembered I had the album. Picked it up again after probably 3 years of not listening to it, and it's still just as good -- if not better -- than I remember.

The Broken West's I Can't Go On, I'll Go On - thought it was decent when I got it a few years ago and have gradually realized it's super-good.

When I first bought "Above" by Mad Season years ago, I got it for one song--River of Deceit. At the time, I wasn't really into the rest of the album and it ultimately collected dust on my CD rack. Fast forward approximately a year and I pulled it out and gave it a good listen. I don't know what I missed the first time I listened to the album because this time, I was hooked! To this day, it's still one of my favorite albums.

I have been working on an old Marantz and hadn't put this disc in for probably 10 years or so...
Steve Vai - Alien Love Secrets Forgot there is great production and a few blusier tracks on that one. |

Here's one that showed up on my mp3 player that I had on shuffle,
Hill Country Revue. Never really got into this when it first came out, the Allman-esque lead lines kinda threw me, but I gave it another chance and realized that that is just a small part of what they do. Awesome tones, and tight playing. Very cool.

"Then PLay On" by Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green well before they morphed into a pop band.
I "rediscover" this one about every six months. One of the all time best IMHO.

Another one I've picked back up recently is Depeche Mode: "Violator". A classic of electronica. I don't know why I stopped listening to it for a couple of years. Maybe I just played it too much and it needed a rest. In any case, I'm always glad when I come back to albums like that.
