Guitar shops in Conn?

Gonna be in Conn today - any must-see guitar shops that aren't chains? G Guitars' site (New Haven) says they've closed. Leaving soon and need a fix...

where in ct?

if you're traveling 95, then acoustic music is worth a stop. g guitars has closed, and there's nothing else really noteworthy.

Okay, thanks. So, for future reference as far as good guitar shops go, CT is a dry state, in alcohol sales terms? Pity.

Not the same as THE Brian's from the 70's thru the 90's but has some really nice stuff there.

Decent selection, but their "luthier" Von Schmitt is a complete hack who really wrecked a Strat of mine (have heard many horror stories from other people as well. Beware).

Very good work, wish I'd brought that aforementioned Strat to him first, instead he ended up undoing the butcher job and it now plays like a dream....

Isn't there a huge store in Danbury? I used to drive there from Poughkeepsie about 20 years ago because the place was so big.

I bought an ADA MP-1 there for $499. I think the salesguy made a mistake.

You're thinking about East Coast Music Mall (an Ed Roman production). No longer in business.....

Thanks for that tip! I've been meaning to look for other local dealers (in/near Rhode Island). I was looking at their gbase listings, they have Hamers and Heritages, which is awesome. How big is their place? Do they have a good selection of second market gear?

@ shimrod: If you're in RI, check out Empire Guitars in Providence. They've got a nice selection of used gear. Also, B Sharp on Broadway in Prov. Small shop but occasionally has cool stuff.
