Bugera bc30's not bad
I dont want to resurect a Zombie here, but I up late have been looking at Vox style amplifiers..... Vox ac30's, Bad Cats, Matchless etc etc etc....
Then I though for the heck of it I would watch a Bugera bc30 demo, and I was quite surprised. It seemed to be fulll sounding, solid, and well worht the money. Yes its a rip off of a matchless, and it maye sound a little different. But for an amp itself sounds excellant. Chinese made, but all vox's are made in china so that does not matter. I dont know how many of you use a bc30, or who cna compare it to the new vox cc2 or c2. I actually dont know how many will even be ok with admitting they have used a bc30 due to the backlash on the amps... but yeh they sound great. Oh eys and I live in a country where we do not get these amps so I cannot just go try one at the shop, so I appreciate comments. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPUoI...eature=related |

Bugera amps are a lightning rod and I think it's unfair. You hear the same three rationales for them being junk; they're made in China, they're rip offs of other amps, and they're built poorly. There is a lot of gear made in China. We didn't see this much vitriol when Celestion moved nearly all their manufacturing to China without so much as a price reduction. At least Bugeras are cheap. So what one of their amps are based on say a Peavey? There are Peaveys based on Mesas and there are Mesas based on Soldanos and Soldanos based on Marshalls and Marshalls based on Fenders. People say that they're built poorly. They are built as bad as most other amps costing more than double.
I've played a Bugera amp and it was a good sounding amp. Not a good for the money sounding amp, but a good amp. I've watched some of the BC-30 clips and it sounds good, as well. I think its ultimate downfall are the cheap speakers. If it were offered in a head, I'd probably own it. I've not played the BC-30 but based on the clips, it sounds very much like a DC-30 (as much as it can without the EF86 preamp), more so than a Vox. Hopefully someone has had some personal contact with one. |

I could not agree more... it really seems a great amp, and with the speakers, at that price one would have the money left over for some decent speakers to be put in.
I think they crappest side of the amp is the indivisuals such as myslef (I hate to say) who would look down on one for using it.... Although maybe I should get one just because of that. I wonder if anyone would notice if you just through a matchless logo on the front

I owned one, honestly when you are tight on a budget this amp kicks major ass. Better than the Vox AC15 Handwired I had. I honestly tried it with an ASW Elegante and the stock speakers sounded better to my ears. I am an advocate for this amp. Too many haters who haven't had it, honestly if you're on the fence, get the amp. It's WORTH IT!

Yeah a head version would be sweet, who knows maybe they will come around to it... I gig alot, and just got married so I could not afford a matchless anytime soon, or a Bad Cat....... I love ac30's but this Bugera can even go down to 15watts....
When I read up on all the negative posts on this amp it seemed they were all grounded in that the amp was Chinese, and was not an exact copy, and further they seemed to be skeptics not owners... I have seen no comments saying the amp was terrible sounding. I find myself really considering this instead of a ac30C2 or CC2... |

There was a player from here that had the Matchless DC-30 and bought the Bugera for a backup, and liked the tone of the Bugera so much he sold the Matchless!!

IN......before the boutique amp's moral police chime in (no pun intended), and flood this thread with their cork-sniffing, flag-waving anti-Bugera rant.

Yeh I would dig to see some owner photos....
I can imagine someone prefering this to a matchless DC30 I was lucky enough to play a DC30 once and it was a great sound, and pretty much what I craved since... the bugera Demo's for the BC30 seem pretty nice, and very close |

Bugera BC-30
I've owned a Bc-30 for nearly a year. When i bought it, the guys in the shop said the only problem they'd had with this model (yes, this model, not any other Bugeras) was cheap valves failing. 1 year in and mine still seem to be fine. As others state on here, everyone who knocks these hasn't even played one. I couldn't afford £700 for an AC-30 & i read many reports of Laney VC's being unreliable so it had to be this. They really do sound great, but as many say, it's is sooo loud. Channel 2 is absolutely deafening! Channel 1 though is perfect. Cracking good version of an AC-30 top boost.
If you can't afford an AC-30, this is the way to go. As to the people who compare this to a Matchless or a Badcat.......do you honestly think that a £400 amplifier is supposed to compete with a £3500 one? It may look a bit like one but come on....get real. Accept the bc-30 for what it is. Compare it with a Laney or a Vox or even a Marshall, but not a genuine 3k boutique amp . 1 complaint, weighs as much a Bentley!! 2 man job to get in from car! |
