video: jazz on a solid body

"Just Friends" on my 1977 Hamer Sunburst. This is one of the earliest Sunbursts ever produced (april 1977), it even does not have a serial number. Heck, it may well be a prototype.

It's very hot over here so I am playing in my undershirt and shorts ...

Very nice playing and tone too!

That Hamer sounds killer!
I know Hamers sound great, but I didn't know they could nail such an authentic jazz tone.
What were you running through?

I would never have guessed the guitar if I hadn't seen it.

Nice job and great lines.

Thanks. Yeah it has a good jazz tone. Some solid bodies do. There are several great jazz players that use them (Ed Bickert and Mike Stern use a Telecaster, Lorne Lofsky and Ulf Wakenius use Les Paul models).

I ran it through a Digitech RP 300 amp modeller which sounds very much like my Polytone but allows me to record silently.

Totally dug it! You've got really impressive chops. Who cares about the guitar...I loved the playing. (OK, nice tone on the guitar for sure, but with your chops it would have sounded great on a $99 Walmart guitar ). Kudos to you.

Besides all the compliments Ive already given you, another great exhibition of talent here. And it just so happens I have a Hamer USA Studio and it made the song even more special. My Hamer is one of my Top of the List guitars, Probably second only to my Custom Shop 1957 Goldtop Reissue. But they sure are different guitars. Beautiful tone that for sure. Love it....Thanks

P.S. What are you using for an amp on that particular tune????

Nice Playing, that guitar has a real nice tone. I see you have been checking out Mr. Pat Martino, I could hear a lot of his stuff up in your playing. Nice solo.
