I voted EL84 but not really by choice. It just happens to be the power tubes in the amps Im using most at the moment. Bob

I mainly use el34 powered amps I have a few el84 amps that get close to the same play time though. I don't own anything with 6v6's or 6l6's in them.

Over the last couple years, EL84s. Both my main amps are EL84-based.

Over the last 20 years, defintiely 6L6s.

Next amp will very likely be 6V6-based.

Mostly 6L6 right now but that's going to even out as soon as my other band starts gigging. Then EL-84's will be in the mix.

I have the 6L6 Shiva, and the cleans are extremely warm and beautiful. But my EL 84's are a close second.

Typically an EL34 guy, though 2 of my 3 current amps are KT88. The one that has gone to most of the gigs since last August is EL34.

I try to give them all equal time lol.
In order of most to least liked is: EL84, EL34, 6L6, 6V6.
Though I never realy had to work out on KT's yet. Someday

EL 34 closely followed by 6V6. I love the crunch of the 34's and the chime of the 6V6.

...since the 6L6-family includes the 6L6, 5881, 7027 and 7581 tubes, I chose it.

I love EL34's and their complexities. An amp that uses EL34's, yet is designed to work with their complexities so as to have the amp not take on only the classic EL34 crunch and tone is a treasure...there are great tones to be found in these tubes that aren't commonly thought of....
