Yamaha REV500 opinions?

Hi folks,

I have the opportunity to get one of these units in a local Pawnshop for less than $100.00.
The unit looks to be in good conditions, but I haven't tried it yet.
Is it worthy if in good conditions?
I was also looking to get one of those small Alesis Microverb II on ebay(around 40-50 bucks), but if the Yamaha is better, I guess I should consider it.

Opinions?

If you don't want it for $100 I'll take it. Its no Lex300 or PCM90 but geez... midiverb sounds like rocks in wet cardboard. Not even close. Probably blow the pants off any plugin reverb you have too.

Agreed, REV500 is a great unit. Good user interface, and some great sounds. WAY better sounding than a Midiverb.

For many years I've been using the Yamaha Rev 500 in my studio and also for live gigs. It is sweet, luscious and warm. You can't go wrong with it and for less than $100 you can't beat it. Buy it before someone else does!

Great old units - used to have one of those and a Roland SRV2000 back in the day...wish I'd never sold them!

It's still a good unit, and at $100 is a steal. It sounds good, and is super easy to operate (sort of a little brother to the Kurzweil Rumour, which has almost the same interface).

I am planning to use it live for my classical guitar and for my singer, and eventually in my home studio.

Thanks folks for all the replies. I will go again tomorrow Monday to see if its still there and check the working conditions.

Thanks folks, I just bought it for $95.00 and it is working great.

Any suggestions on settings for a singer playing with a guitarist (me)?

I will record some video/demos playing my classical guitar and I will show you later.

Just spin the knobs until it sounds good. I love the UI on this thing.
