Trouble with a Marshall Class 5..
Seems the amp's volume will completely go off when the volume is past halfway, but stays on if the volume is at 5 or lower, no motter how long or hard its played.
tried the headphone out and it suts down also when the amp cuts out. This amp has had an upgrade to a 12" eminence Tonkerlite with a new baffle, no electronic upgrades or mods, other than tubes, don't know whats in there, it's a friends amp.

I don't know, does it matter as far as the electronics go?

Sounds like a bad vol pot. Too bad the amp is modded, it could have been repaired under warranty.

The amp will sound when the volume is on full but then cut out, could that still be the volume pot?

These amps have issues with rattling their tubes in the first place. Could the larger, more efficient speaker be vibrating the amp so hard that the power tube doesn't function at all?

Sure. Could still be the vol pot, or lots of other things.
