Just got Dime Tribute Guitar from TGP, is this normal?

The neck pickup volume is really low when i roll off bridge volume at middle position. Is this some kind of special feature or something is wrong with the guitar?

here is the video

If its the Custom Shop 'Rust' model, then yes. I used to sell Deans when those came out and I sold 2 of them. The bridge pickup is insanely hot compared to the neck, and theres a big mismatch in the in-between position. Its probably even worse on the cheaper models where the neck pickup is not as good. You can somewhat adjust for it with pickup height.

The original Deans had the bridge and neck pickups wired out of phase. That could be the issue as well.

Some LPs do that as well. I think it's a less than optimum way to wire things when you have a mismatched set of pickups, but there you are. I'd much rather have a Master volume and a blend knob under those conditions.

thanks for reply guys. I think the one i have is custom shop, it's one of 333 USA tribute guitar. so it's problem with out of phase? But if bridge is roll off completely, it shouldn't effect the neck pickup right? right now the middle position is almost same as bridge position because once i roll off the bridge pickup, the neck position almost make no sound. 100% agree with dspell, this makes no sense without the blend knob... so what's conclusion here, it's normal?

What happens when you roll off the neck in the middle position?

Basically, yes, it's normal because when you connect the pickups together you are connecting the volume pots together as well. So turning either one down all the way turns both pickups off. What's wrong is you're still getting bleed through when it should be silent.

First, it has nothing to do with "out of phase." If your pickups were wired out of phase with each other, you'd get a very nasal sound out of the middle position if both volumes were up.

But if your guitar is wired the way most LPs are wired, if you turn down one or the other of the pickups when you have both selected, both will decrease in volume. If one pickup is hotter than the other, one will disappear faster than the other.
