ATTENTION: North Bay TGP'ers: Concert Alert

Just a PSA for the 2011 Experience Hendrix Tribute Tour with:

Billy Cox
Steve Vai
Johnny Lang
Kenny Wayne Sheppard
Robert Randolph

.........and many more guests!

They are playing at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa on May 26, 20011.

If some local TGP'ers are interested in going, maybe we can get together...car pool..hang out. I'm not affiliated with the venue....just a guitar lover looking to have a great evening listening to killer players!

Cheers!

I saw this show last night. Man, there was a lot of hum on that stage, but the music was great.

Mato came out first; never heard of him before, but he sounded like the real deal. And then it just kept getting better. I haven't thought of the Isley Brothers in a long time and didn't know that Ernie Isley even played guitar, but he was terrific. I knew David Hidalgo and Cesar Rojas could play, and they did a great job on several songs, including Little Wing where they traded leads. Living Colour was great. I did not realize that Brad Whitford was such a terrific player; he teamed up with Jonny Lang for several songs and did a great job.

And then Kenny Wayne Shepherd came out with the singer from his band. I knew the name but not the player, and Shepherd just blew me away. It's like he was born on stage with a strat in his hands. This is a guy who just owns the stage and the song and the instrument. He was phenomenal. Of all the guys I heard last night he was clearly the one who made me feel like I was experiencing Hendrix. Steve Vai came out last with his little personal wind storm blowing his hair around like you always see him. He was the one who really put his own twist on the music and sounded the least like Hendrix, which is good or bad depending on what you like. He certainly has a lot of technical ability, but I don't really care for what he plays.

I imagine it will be pretty much the same show in Santa Rosa. I highly recommend it.
