I once had luck calling up the local distribution center (or whatever it's called) and they told me what area the driver was headed to. Once I found him, they had already called him and he just needed to see my id with valid address. Although it's probably easier to find the driver here in VT than other more populated places!
Or you could just wait in anguish/lustful agony/etc...

Been there ... just call the number on the ticket and have them hold it for you at the station. Pick it up tonight after the driver finishes the route.

I just tried that very thing.

The location is in the next state, like 50 miles from here.

I've picked up at the UPS hub in town here before. This is a town of 100k.

I'll second this.

Despite sometimes being frustrated about it, on the drive to the depot I remind myself that I'd rather be in the car driving to pick it up than calling the shipping company trying to figure out why it's not on my porch where they left it.

That's a bummer. Look at it this way, you get one more day of savoring the anticipation.

May the real thing be every bit as good as you dream!

Feel your pain. One time I missed him because I was out walking the dog for 10 minutes. Had to wait the next day.

Too bad gas is so expensive ... back in the day that would be an excuse for a road trip.

Every time, I was able to get info as to where the driver was. I missed it like 10 times in the past and picked it up from the truck each time. Even if not, I would drive that 50 miles but that's just me.

You call your self a Gas-man? That name should be stripped from
You. With 9000 plus posts and don't know how to work fed ex or Ups... Shame on you!

I've had luck calling and the dispatcher asked the driver to come back. The drivers seem to have a lot of leeway.

Recently I've had some bad luck though. They kept coming when I'd be out for 10 mins, then refused to come back when I called. After three times they refused to deliver it at all! They said they'd hold it at the depot (30 miles away) for 10 days, and if I didn't pick it up by then, they'd ship it back to the sender.

I got lucky on my NGD the other day. Drive came while I was home on my lunch break. Had time to eat and play the guitar for a while.
