How to solve tube rattle?
I'm a home player so I only use small combo amp, but the tube rattle is killing me. Seem in these small amps the tubes are just too close to the speaker. Other than going with a head and cab do you guys know of a good way to solve this issue?
Thanks.

Preamp tubes?
If a 12AX7 is noisy, audition-swap it among dif. positions. I just did that a few minutes ago for a friend's BF Bassman: found a location not as critical for one really rattly one. [If it had been my amp I'd just toss it and put in a quiet 12AX7-WB or some other.] Otherwise try dif. or new ones. |

For power tube rattle, I've learned that the only true solution is to remove the offending tube, and replace it with one that does not rattle. Sorry to say - there is no other way around it.
