Speaker Impedance (2) 8 ohm speakers in parallel runs at 4 ohms?

Hey Guys,
I've got a 2x12 cab and I just received two 8 ohm Scumbacks. They were wired in parallel in this cab. I was told the cab impedance is now 4 ohms. Some amps don't have 4 ohm outs. What can I do??? Do I need to rewire this in parallel???

I'm clueless as to how this works...help me....

Most of my amp options have 8 ohm and 16 ohm outputs.

Just put them in serieas and you got 16 ohms - easy as pie.

Why do you care about "some amps". What about the amps you have?

It's all about giving me the most versatility. I buy and sell a lot of gear. If I only have a cab that runs at 4 ohms, I'm limiting my options. That's why I care . My present amps run at 4, 8, 16...but there are some half power settings on one of my amps that calls for 16 ohms....I can't do that with my cab the way it is.

That's my rationale.

Get a Weber Z-Matcher if you're moving through a lot of amps.

As Solitaire mentioned, you can wire them for 16 ohms easily enough.

Yeah, just do a Google search for "2x12 series wiring" and you'll find a boatload of diagrams. It's really just as easy as reversing your hot from one speaker to the ground of the other and vice versa.

My amp, a Budda Twinmaster, only has 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps. So the way you have it wired, is really the only way your 2x12 would work with my Budda. I think 4 ohms is common enough not to worry. Most fender 2x12 cabs (all?) are wired at 4 ohms as well.

Ummm.....you don't want to run an 8-ohm output into a 4-ohm cab or a 16-ohm ouput into a 4 or 8-ohm cab. Anything matched (best) to the output or higher is ok, but lower could damage the amp. The OP can simply wire his cab in series to get 16-ohms that would be ideally matched to a 16-ohm output if he has one, but an 8-ohm output is ok, too.
