Super 100 JH. plate voltage 515 volts REALLY?
Hi fellas, as some of you remember , you helped me learn to bias my amp using one of the methods from Randall Aikens site.
measure the output primary, then the voltage, and then i have my amperage. when i measured plate voltage, i got 515 volts. is this right? or at least in the ballpark for a 66 kt-66 super 100 amp?? my 74 superlead is 490, my jcm 800 2203 is 462. is 515 way too high or is it right? |

515 is not particular high for a 45/100, not at all. the plate voltage isn't a problem due to the high z (4k), but the screens voltage can really be a problem with these amps.
my new genelex 66s have held up for 2 years at 510+v in my 45/100 - they sound excellent

Yes, I thought it was on the lower side of things. Perhaps later in the Plexi era they were 600-ish V, so I could be misstaken though.
