What's Digitech Up To?

Though I was horribly wrong with my Boss GT NAMM prediction, take a look at this new promo vid from Digitech. Interesting. First time they've tried to do some viral marketing that I know of. From the repeated swiping theme (extremely obvious at the final shot) they're hinting at a touch screen. With their recent RP/IPad functionality, I hope this isn't just an extension of that nor an IPad modeling app. They do include a section in the vid where the guitar tone morphs from a cleaner to a fuzzier tone which hopefully indicates a return to their warp technology. In fact, a new floorboard with their WARP tech and a touch screen would be totally cool...but I'm not getting my hopes up. Your thoughts?

That is pretty intriguing. Looks like it was only uploaded yesterday, so I suppose "June 2011" must mean "End of June 2011."

I hope no touchscreen. Can't be good for durability or fixability.

I see Digitech coming out with something new soon. The RP series is like 5 years old. I'm sure it will be awesome. I think Line 6 elevated their game with the HD series, so why not Digitech

I'm sorry, I had to watch with the sound off (at work) and that vid made me laugh out loud... good stuff.
Maybe it's an app for the IPAD which keeps track of your songlist?

The Fusion series modeling amps have been due to come out for a while.

Might be interesting if they replace the RP series with something designed to compete against Line 6, Avid and Fractal. However, the idea of it having a touch screen somewhat concerns me.

I think the idea of having an iPad-centric device would be too silly since it would exclude all those people without one, not to mention that it would be silly to encourage customers to buy a piece of equipment that is more expensive than the RP series floorboards.

Who wants to put their shinny new iPad on the floor to use as a pedalboard?

The real tragedy: no GSP replacement...

Ugh! I just bought an RP500 - happy with it though, but I would have held off if I knew.

In any event, LOVE that they may be coming out with something new, HATE how vague the video is. It could be a line of funky hats for guys with beards for all we can tell from the video!

I wish they would indeed do something about the horrible UIs most modelers have; impractical for gigging.

A floor unit with a touch screen seems like it would be pretty useless to me; just dedicate those resources towards making a good computer (/iPad/Android?) editor. Anyway, I'm interested in seeing what they come up with. I got my start with Digitech modellers, so I'm pulling for them.

Can we all just hope thats what it is. Something that is to the GSP what the HD is to the PodXT. Or even to the GSP what the GSP is to the HD.

I am hoping and praying for the next generation GSP! But, I must confess that the video gave no indication of what the new product could be. I'm an executive in international marketing and the ONLY guess I would make is something to do with amps; only because they zeroed in on the amp in a closeup (albeit just the corner of an amp as he is plugging his guitar in).

Enticing video, but in some ways not very clever because you always want the audience to know the direction, but not give away the details. There was no direction in that video....But, I sure as HELL hope it's the next GSP, though I seriously doubt it.
