Would you keep these aged pickup covers?

I just bougt a pair of aged nickel covers from a reputable dealer. In fact, I bought a pair from them before after the covers I got on a very expensive pair of "aged" pickups looked like crap. The previous set was flawless. These....well....judge for yourself.

I guess I'm looking to see if I'm too picky or if most would send them back also. Obviously the "aging" process is a chemical one of some sort but it appears that something splashed on the covers as there are shiny spots where the aging is gone. Looks pretty fake to me. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has ever seen real aged covers look like this:

There should be shiny bits, but not where they are and the are uniformly flat, which IRL real covers aren't.

I'm heavy on mine and they age fast, but they look completely different to these

They look like crap. They're perfect!

Just kidding. I don't really know what to say. They look chemically aged to me, but most purposely-relic'ed stuff does.

To me, aged metal parts seem to vary in appearance / "realism" depending on who's doing the relicing. Some are more convincing than others. So YMMV. But if you're unhappy with them (and it seems that you are), I'd definitely send them back.

Actually, the last set I got from this place looked perfect. Very "real". I'm seeing if I can send them back.

If you look at a nickel part too long, you'll see it start oxidizing. I don't understand why you'd bother with aged parts like this.

Put some new covers on your pickups, go to band practice and turn off the AC! No band? go do a good workout, and then play your guitar. Rinse and repeat. In a short time, you won't believe how realistic it looks, because it is real! It'll wear exactly how you play.

I would also send them back. If paying for return shipping is the worst of it your ahead of the game. Be happy your not stuck with them.

I thought it was going to be more than it was. I found a smaller box and it was $3.50. So not a huge deal. Still, I bought them on a 20% off sale after specifiically waiting for that sale. So it kind of cuts into what I had saved. Still....reputable company and glad they're taking them back and replacing them.
