Help please - is $1,900 fair for this Gibby Les Paul?

Guys, I could really use your help. I'm considering the purchase of this Gibson Les Paul, limited edition blue, and $1,900 is what the seller is looking for. Is that a fair price given it's supposed "mint" condition. The case, however, doesn't look like a typical case you'd get with a LE, but I could be wrong. Anyway, here's some pics (snagged from the CL ad)....THANKS GUYS!!!!

The case is correct, standard issue Gibson. I'd say 1700-1900 is about right for the guitar. Personally, I wouldn't pay 1900. Gibson has a zillion limited issues, so the collect-ability factor is nil.

This is IMHO, the best looking of the 3 limited edition finishes that they issued at the time, and the bound headstock is a nice touch on these models.

I'd bet he would take $1800

Thanks, good to know re the case. I've come down quite a bit and will not pay $1,900. I countered with $1,500, which is still on the high side but I want it BAD!

I think $1500-1600 is fair in this economy.

Are you going to be happy with that color long term, or will you long for a more traditional color for the purchase of a lifetime? Perhaps that will provide a great excuse to get the more traditional guitar in the future...

I owned the exact same model, an '04, I think, (it went to California, but looked exactly like that one) and sold it for around $1600 a few years ago. I had done some upgrades too...RS Kit, lightweight tailpiece, etc.

I bought it new online and upon receiving it had to immediately have a new nut cut for it, because it was cut so poorly that the high E would fall off the fretboard while playing...wouldn't hold tune or intonate very well either...even AFTER having my tech cut a new bone nut. Pretty damned disappointing after paying $2400 for it.

Hopefully, it's local to you and you can play it before you make a deal...and hopefully, it's a good one.

Best of luck!

Yea I was going to say the same thing about the color. Some colors are more sell-able.
IMO Blue is one of those colors you have to want. I agree 1500 is a good offer. Stay with 1500 and let the chips fall where they fall.

That's a great questions. I already have 6 Lesters in the traditional colors I like (black, white, wine, cherryburst, 2 goldtop) and have always wanted a blue one.

The seller is gonna hold out for more than I was willing to pay ($1,500). No worries, although I REALLY wanted that Lester. I just don't want to overpay for a guitar, especially in this ecnomy, and you guys helped keep me from doing that.....y'all are the best!!!!!! I hope I can return the favor!! If I'm ever selling a pedal you're interested in, remind me of this and I'll hook a brother up. Thanks again!!!

Thats an elegant right?
Id say $1400 -$1600 myself maybe even $1300.
Some folks said those were more along the lines of a Classic than Standard.
Nice looker btw.
