EH Deluxe memory man

I power my board using a CIOKS DC10.

My EH deluxe memory man seems to be a culprit of power noises... Unlike overdrive pedals which give a level of noise (depending on gain level) this pedal is giving a higher pitched noise, when combined with a drive pedal is very loud.

I am powering it using the DC10 5+6 with the voltage doubling cable. The two outputs are isolated together. I went through my pedal board one pedal at a time, and this is the noisy one.

Is it the pedals power, or the actual pedal? Just makes a loud high pitched noise regardless of it being switched on or not?

I have only noticed this recently, over the last few shows i have played.. Any one else with similar sounds or advice? It is the older deluxe memory man, in the big cases and 5 large knobs on the right side of the pedal.

Side question: DO the newer memory man's sound as good? (the one with the knobs along the top in a row)?

thanks

I've got the same pedal, and I power it with its on 24v supply. I know it's a bit of a hassle but I get zero noise. Guess I can live happily with it

..and no. I never tried the newer version. Mind you, when I heard that EH was about to stop producing the MMD (which is anyway already a reissue), I got my credit card out and bought two new units, which are still boxed So when the current one will be played to death I'll pop out a new one, and probably will pass the third to the next generation.

interesting... anyone have more advice on what parts could be causing the noise? Or is that too hard to know and i just need a new pedal?

I recently pulled my Deluxe memory man out of mothballs (the whole board, really) and it was super noisy. Made a chirping noise that would be carried with the delay time....

I was powering it with a Pedal Power 2, at the required 24 volts.

I was getting pretty frustrated, as it was totally unusable with the noise, then I got the braistorm to just power it with its supplied adapter, and the noise vanished! I plugged the adapter into the back of the PP2.

I guess this particular pedal is very sensitive to what power supply it is used with...
