Question MJM Foxey Fuzz

I have played and compared it to some vintage muffs. And it's a pretty cool substitute. I just notice that not a lot of people have this MJM fuzz on board. A sleeper or did it just miss the "Big Muff" race? I know that there way too many modded Big Muff clones out there, but imo this pedal is still a great triangle knob BM repro. I guess I have Foxey Fuzz gAS!

My WH Swollen Pickle is not doing it for me this days. Pharoah maybe?

I had one and sold it quickly. It is NOT a bad pedal at all, but to my ears doesn't stand up against the SUF line, Musket, Hoof, or Skreddys. If it was the only muff I had owned, I'd probably still have it.

I know that's what I meant. It's just as basic as basic as a good genuine repro as it can be and nothing more. Wished that Michael (MJM) would release a more tweakable version. That would be awesome for sure!

Goes back to what I said. I think he has to keep up with the all the "other" muffs out there. The Muskets, and Pharoahs of the boutique world. Or else, just discontinue the pedal.

i was pretty close to pulling the trigger on this guy, but seemed very much a one trick pony. it did thick wall of fuzz, and that seemed to be about it. also, seemed a bit too controlled/tight for what i was looking for after listening to some clips for a couple days.

i landed on the suf stuff, which im really digging.

I have one on my board and really dig it. I dunno... maybe I'm less picky than some other people? It was exactly what I was looking for out of a Muff fuzz. It's thick and warm, but has a nice bite on the top end that reminded me of pedals like the Creamy Dreamer. It reminded me of a Muff being boosted by another pedal in its response to picking.

The one trick pony comment may be valid, though. I have it on my board solely for the wall of fuzz thing, and use Fuzz Face derivatives for leads and lower gain stuff

(Mine is a big box version, FWIW. I've heard they have the same guts but don't know for sure, because mine sounds a little less mid-scooped than most of the new version demos I've heard. I like it a lot better w/ single coils too.)

I just got a Colossus and a Manx yesterday, and I highly recommend both/either. Also, ya can't go wrong with a Musket IMO. And I have a Pharaoh, but I don't feel it's as versatile as the others mentioned, though it's great at what it does.

Btw, I've never tried a Foxey Fuzz. I did try a London Ge and was very disappointed with it (unlike so many here).

The Foxey is THE big muff. And LF is a Fuzz Face. From the pedals you've mentioned above. You are more of a Big Muff connoisseur. So, the LOndon or FF would be a little too tame for your taste.
