Matchless HC-30 price

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a nice but used Matchless HC-30. The only one I've seen recently is going for $2400, but the guy has mentioned it's more or less brand new.

What's a good price range for a used HC-30 these days?

Thanks!
Matt

They're not a whole lot cheaper used since they are tough to come by. I'd expect to be in the $2k range + or - 10%.

Another option is the Ceriatone Dizzy 30. Comparisons are solid.

I'd get the real thing if you want a Matchless. I haven't played a clone but I do know the feeling of owning a real one and their wonderful tone.

I'd pay $2400 for a used one I think. They rarely become available on the used market, so definitely take that into consideration.

$2k +/- 10% sounds about right, and the same for a Bad Cat Black Cat.

I've been pricing Matchless amps lately at some of the online dealers and honestly you can buy a brand new one (shipped & Paypal'd) for not much more and have it drop shipped directly to your home direct from the Matchless factory.

So IMO & in this current market, $2400 is way too high. Even if it is in more or less brand new condition, it's still for all practical purposes a used amp.

Personally, I wouldn't pay over $2000 - $2100 including shipping and Paypal for a used one, and even then it better damn well be in pristine/mint condition. Otherwise, I just as soon buy new. Just my 2 cents.

Both HC and DC-30's are going for more than they used to. Not sure why.

If you want to get basically the same amp but for about $500-800 less, try to find a used Bad Cat Black Cat. I've seen them for $1500.

$2k is in the range (+/-). A Sampson era (which I have) brings more money because of the history - not tone. The new ones are the same as the old.

As stated above - don't count out a Bad Cat Black Cat. Essentially the same amp. (own a Hot Cat as well - amazing stuff).

Good luck in your search!

Thanks for the advice guys, it's been really helpful so far. I had no idea a new HC-30 is just under ~$3,000. Hmm... maybe I'll check out a Bad Cat Black Cat. There's something so attractive about a Matchless though .

I think you could find one for under 2400 .....just have to be patient and that is harder that hitting that PP button.

I have seen SC-30s (and owned one) in the 2000 =/- Range.

It is a buyers market....sit tight and you will find what u seek.

That's MSRP. Call around to some of the Matchless dealers and get some price quotes. Dealers will discount off this price and many will also include free shipping & Paypal.

Matchless

Spent a few months shopping for an SC-30. Used HC's in the $2000 range, SC's a few hundred more. Made sense to buy a new amp. Went with Eddies Guitar Shop in St. Louis. Talk to Nathan. Good deal and great customer service.
