Anderson Bulldog

Can't believe I did it, but I was too aggressive with the inner locking pin and sheared it off.

Amazing. I just got the guitar, and tonight was it's maiden voyage. Really down abut it.

I've contacted Tom and opened a thread on the Anderson Forum, wondering about options to replace.

I've never had this type of tuner before. Anyone know what might replace cleanly in the same holes, that can be bought locally? I think they're Grovers.

Thanks

I've never owned an Anderson but all owners I've ever talked with have said their customer service is steller. I suspect that they will simply send you a replacement but it will unfortunately take a few days. I think their normal sealed tuners are made by Gotoh (at least the last Anderson Classic I looked at had the "Anderson" logoed Gotohs on it) so I would imagine that the locking keystone-style tuners on the Bulldogs are also made by Gotoh. I know I can't find anything like that at any local stores here in Louisville (not a hotbed of shops with lots of parts; even our relatively new Guitar Center is a "lower tier" store that doesn't stock a lot of parts) but maybe you could turn them up where you're located.

Thanks John. I want to say these are Grover Vintage 135 keys, but I'm not sure. I don't expect to find them locally, but if there's a comparable key that uses the same holes, I'd give it a temporary shot.

Yes, the Anderson team has been terrific in the past. I'm sure I'll hear from them soon.

Regards,
Bill

Traded some emails with Tom Anderson about these tuners, and how to adjust them.

As it turns out, I didn't shear it off. The thread was partially stripped (probably my doing). I had to lower the inner-most shaft in order to get to the threads that weren't stripped, if that makes sense. In other words, the string angle changed coming over the nut, which is not ideal, and probably skews the BFTS. But it held tune.

Finding a workaround while I pursue a replacement was nice. I was able to use the Bulldog at a gig last night, and it was stellar. Loved it. Felt great; sounded great. ALL pickup settings were useful. Coil taps don't always work well, but the variations on this guy were very cool.

Tom Anderson customer service is the best,I have a classic t that came with locking tuners when I bought it,contacted Tom about my preference for standard tuners (hole in the post-non locking) because I like the tone better with the string THROUGH the tuner and his response was " send 'em back and I'll send you a set". My point is I'm sure he will do the same for you,no need hunting around for a replacment.
