For Those Who Struggle To Read Tuners In Direct Sunlight
I present to you the Tuner House (Haus?). Or maybe the Tuner Hut?
I'm sure I am not the first and only one to come up with this idea, but thought it may be helpful to others. I had my first outdoor daytime gig in a while this weekend. I have memories of balancing on one foot to provide enough shade to read my tuner when I was last at an outdoor gig in direct sunlight. After giving it some thought and becoming inspired by a pile of wood scraps, I spent about 45 minutes coming up with this solution: ![]() ![]() It's a little hard to tell from the first picture, but this made the difference from the tuner being impossible to read - to where I had zero problem seeing the display. The top is at a 45 degree angle so it blocks the sunlight while still being readable from a foot or two in front of my pedal board. |

That's great -- although some (admittedly childish) part of me was hoping to open the thread and see something like....
"stop playing outdoor gigs so early in the day" great work man

Nice! I need to whip one of these up for this Saturday's BBQ gig (actually, my cheap Fender pedal tuner isn't bad in direct sunlight. It's LEDs are usually the only ones that I can see in direct sunlight)!

Great idea! Had this issue last wednesday at a gig at a baseball game.
Then I would think your body would block it?

Neat idea. I usually just tape a piece of paper to the top of mine (not as effective).

I'm not sure where i saw it but I believe someone makes a stick-on, polarized, non-glare film for Blackberry's and/or iphones which might work like a charm for this purpose.

Nice work. I've rigged up some makeshift cardboard "lean-to's" on the spot but this is good planning.

Tuning House
Might look cooler with a couple of dormers and a chimney.
