about what pedals are we talkin? the bassman is one of the pedal friendliest amps ever... and so is the deluxe reverb ! the bassman might work better with drive pedals!

You'll get a better platform for cleans w/the bassman, therefore being a great canvas for your OD's

The Bassman is a superior amp. Better built, better sounding, and more easily modded/maintained.

For metal, the Krank distortionus maximus seems like a winner

I've got a Bassman 70 (1977) which I believe to be a lower powered version of the amp you're looking at. Excellent pedal platform.

But the deluxe reverb II has built-in reverb...can't beat that! No pedal-based reverb, in front of the amps preamp, will sound as good as a Fender blackface/silverface style reverb IMHO.

I ended up getting the bassman 100, went to a guys house to try the sf bassman 100 and the sf deluxe reverb, and the bassman pretty much smoke the deluxe, the bassman was the first one I jacked into, so when I jacked into the deluxe after, well it sounded pretty tiney to say the least, had I not tryed the bassman, I think it would have been great, but the 4*12 is just great, the bassman sounded great on 10, the deluxe got a bit hisses fitted past 8, get the bassman, U will not be disappointed, it pisses all over the deluxe, and I am not biest, as I went to buy either one of the amps, and came away with the best one, deluxe owners will tell U to go that way, but they know the bassman is a better amp, it's fender top selling tube amp of all time, say no more, as for the reverb, think I can live without it for the tone I am getting without it like, the bass on this thing is rocking like, I had a HRDx before this, so U can imagine my joy. The DR is a good amp, but the bassman is a great one, back in the day bassmans were a better class of amp, more higher end than a DR, the DR vinatage go for more now, and I think that is because it is without dought a good giging amp, small, great sounding portable amp, but U can pick a blonde 6g6 bassman up for the same money, which is what U want
