Does anybody else trade in their old pedals?
I dont know about anybody else, but instead of having pedals im not using collecting dust I trade them into local guitar shops and use the credit towards another effect that interests me. For instance I have an Ibanez FL9 Flanger and a Boss RV5 Reverb im not using. So I figure I might put those two pedals towards a voodoo lab fuzz or something.

Don't trade them, become a supporting member and sale them in the emporium. You will get much more that way!

I sell or trade mine too, too expensive to keep stuff I don't use.

You get maybe 25% value when you trade with a retailer like GC or SA... sell them here or on CL and you'll get nothing worse then 50% of what you paid and usually more.

I agree though. Most of the time big box stores will do dirty things to you when you turn your back. |

I do occasionally, although I sell in the emporium more. GC will give you 10-15% off new gear when trading in, so if the price of your new gear is high enough, sometimes it works out to be a better deal than selling and purchasing separately.

I never keep something I'm not using. On the board is all my pedals. Silly to have a collection.

And to answer the OP - yes; I never keep pedals I'm not using.

But then you have to factor in the ridiculous ebay fees

Trading stuff into a music store is a ripoff, IMO. Better to sell on Craigslist, TGP, or Ebay.
I'm pretty sure all retail stores have the same formula for trade-ins. They offer you 50% of what they think they can sell it for. |

The key is to be patient enough to wait for better deals in the first place, that way you'll lose very little or even make a profit for selling them, and that makes selling a much easier decision

I usually move my pedals that I'm not using pretty quickly, but the thought that I foolishly sold a BJF BBOD about 10 years back makes me sick when I see what they go for now!

Nope, I never trade in pedals to retailers. I trade all the time on TGP and locally on CL.
