Mustaine-very graceful player

I picked up the tab book for Rust in Peace this week to get the solos down for Hanger 18. What has really impressed me is how graceful the rhythm parts are put together. I was playing them all wrong and Daves way is way easier and honestly-beautiful.

Great rhythm player along with Scott Ian and Hetfield. Dave is my favorite though.

In other news the new Anthrax tune is great!

Who knew that they had another one in them?

Happy 4th.

Pete

Other than Exodus and the monster that is Gary Holt Megadeth and Mustaine have always been my favorite of any of the thrash bands. Graceful is a great way to describe Mustaine, he isn't a jackhammer like Hetfield. Not to mention Rust in Peace has always been my favorite album from the thrash genre, an absolutle masterpiece in every way.

I was REALLY surprised by the new Anthrax track. I've never really been a fan of Anthrax but I actually really liked the new song. I've also never really liked Belladonna's vocals but even he was pretty good. If I had my way John Bush would still be in the band but that's life I suppose.

^ yeah, I wonder what J. Bush is up to? I like Belladonna (weirdest name for a metal front man ever) too, but Bush is really el hombre mejor.

Love Megadeth and Mustaine, grew up on that stuff. I have a special soft spot for "Countdown to Extinction"

I just wonder how my life would have turned out if his bid to buy Jackson had been successful... probably be designing next year's models by now...

^ Yeah, I bet cool things would have happened if he'd bought Jackson. Do you work for Jackson or something?

Loved his signature V-style axes

I think he's back to doing vocals for Armored Saint.

He's also making a nice living as freelance voice talent for commercials, voice overs, etc.

Watch the Big 4, Megadeth really puts on a hell of a show. My favorite band on that concert.

I have always like Megadeth. Their albums are chock full of "guitar candy".
Complex yet not real heady. Even seeing them in the early days when Dave was a mess, the playing was usually spot on.

Another big thing for me is, I think Megadeth are way more original, less derivative the Metallica was and is.
I really don;t compare the big four, I love them all. Most consistent for me though is Slayer and Megadeth.

Agreed. Dave is a fantastic player. Met him a couple times and he is a great person as well.

Yes me as well, although watching Anthrax on the Big 4, I like them a lot more than I did when I was young.

I always liked slayer, I really did`nt get them until I went to a show, good times, good times.

Only band I have`nt seen live is Metallica I refuse to go and if they only did Kill em all and Ride the lightning I probably would pay for a ticket.

I saw an interview with Mustaine where he was like "there aren't many people playing guitar at my level" and I was like "you hubris-filled jerk" and then I was like "wait, he's right"

Mustaine has an almost bebop-level of control over his playing, he means every note he hits and has great feel + emotional intelligence
