weird old guitar ( aluminum & fiberglass content )

A few months ago i picked what turned out to be one of the weirdest guitars i have ever owned. Now not weird in the same way as say a 4 pickup Japanese monster, but especially strange in its construction.

Acquired it for $50 and the cost of a new stop tail piece.

It is a 1978 Technikraft "Hustler". not really any info on the ol interwebs about them, but i was able to track down the former CEO of the company who ( reluctantly ) exchanged a few emails with me. it has a 1 piece hollow fiberglass body, aluminum neck w/ oak FB and surrounds, dearmond humbuckers. it's a little beat up and the nut is non original, but hey they only made a few hundred of them here in Northern Illinois.

working on some clips. here are a few pics

not surprisingly it is very very neck heavy and sustains like a maniac.

just thought i'd share.

actually plays pretty well. i have it strung w/ a modified set of 13's. no truss rod though so i have yet to figure out how to best adjust the bridge. it needs a bit of work but i dig it. hopefiully the wife doesn't insist that i sell it, i have only ever seen one other many many years ago.

it is really loud acoustically and the dearmond HB's are really clean sounding.

harmonics ring for what seems like forever.

it's like a boat w/ strings

This is so cool! Looking forward to hearing some clips.

What are the two round dots on the back of the headstock (located in the aluminum strip)?

Let me know if you're going to get rid of it...I'm interested.
