Screwdriver/Lunar Module
What is the difference?

I think the screwdriver is supposedly lower gain, kind between OD and Fuzz. The Lunar ranges from OD to pretty high gain Fuzz. For example, I can get the slightly distorted sound of Any Colour You Like by rolling off my volume knob and turning on Vibe or a splatty lower-range melody like In The Flesh with more volume and sweet, sustaining leads like early Gilmour Solos.
PS - I have the LM and love it, never tried the screwdriver.

the lunar module is better, I hated the Screwdriver when I tried it out. It's like a weak OD, the Lunar Module is a sweet sounding fuzz

The LM is a straight-up silicon fuzz meant to emulate classic 70's fuzz tones. The SD is a treble-booster going into a hybrid fuzz face simulating your volume knob turned down. So it's an OD based on the sound of getting an overdrive from a treble-booster into a Fuzz Face with volume knob backed off in one box.

All I know is that after going through 3 different versions of the Screw Driver w/ little success, I finally found what I was looking for in the Lunar Module. Both are tweakable, but the LM is better for full-on fuzz sounds. You can back it off and get down to some cool overdriven Colorsound tones, but it can also rage like a pissed off Fuzz Face.

not really sure why I haven'y fully bonded with it...it's a darn good pedal...but yet I keep looking for something else I do wish that it had a tone controlwas listening to clips of the screwdriver today, and it sounded like it had plenty of gain on tap...but it didn't sound like the demo's were played through a completely clean amp either...was wondering what the difference was. |

I did not bond with the Screwdriver as an overdrive or fuzz... the Lunar Module on the other hand is a killer smooth fuzz!

I have both and love both. The SD is definitely lower gain than the LM. It is a great classic rock-ish sounding OD that gets into fuzz terrirory (like mentioned before kind of like a fuzz with the volume rolled back). Running it into a hot amp or a DLS or something like that definitely gets it more into the fuzz territory. The SD into DLS is my main go-to rhythm sound. The LM is an unbelievable fuzz pedal, which has TONS more gain and can do fuzz face tones as well as others depending on the settings. It can be smooth or rough depending. Both are great, and I love having them both.

It has two tone controls.

so why did I know that was coming![]() i'll have to work on the interaction between the presence trim and the body control tonight....but how do I back out a little bass and still keep the fuzz loose and not tight? |

nope, correct...the standard....and I go back and forth between a strat into the bassier channel of my Germino...and a LP through the treble boosted channel. And I totally admit to having it tweaked to the strat...and then I'm to lazy to pull it off the board and start messing with the trim when I switch

I do prefer the SD running into an HBOD rather than on its own...

I woud likely be stacking as well. While I'm not a high gain guy, I do like enough to get a certain tone...and also some in reserve with a little turn of the guitars volume knob...so low gain doesn't scare me off...it's more about how the pedal sounds...and aslo how it sounds stacked. I definitely liked what I heard of the SD in those clips. While I'm not good at describing those things, it does seem to have a few qualities that I look for.
