Powersupply suggestions for a 6+ pedal board?

Hey guys- I'm building a pedal board, and have 6 pedals currently. I probably want some room to get at least a couple more, so whats a good 6+ spot power supply? What should I be looking for in a power supply?

Thanks!

Depends on the pedals, I have a 1 spot for my wah, comp, fuzz, OD, and boost pedals, but then I have to power my other ones separately.

Very true. I'd get something isolated, I've had better results when is comes to noise/hum.

The Pedal Power 2+ is great. Built well and powers at least 8 pedals, even more if you daisy chain (lose isolation though) or take advantage of the courtesy AC outlet (also lacks isolation)

The CIOKS DC10 is the best available right now though, imo. Really picked up where the PP2+ left off. It will handle higher current requirements such as Eventide (powers 3 at once) or Strymon. Also has 8 isolated outs.

Room for growth either way.

Right, I guess the nice part is that you can daisy chain the pedals that are less finicky, or groups of a few pedals and keep the more finicky ones isolated (as long as each outlet has enough current for the daisy chain). I find that my daisy chain is great for my rig, low noise, smaller than an isolated power supply. On the other hand, certain pedals don't work well together and it seems like a power issue - if I happen to use, experimentally, my Lunar Module and TS9 or Alpha, I feel like there is some sag, like not enough MA or something. I don't know what the Lunar's draw is, but it seems like more than my other dirt boxes.

What are the six pedals? Are some going to be in the amp's effects loop? Any of them positive ground or otherwise have weird requirements? Any of 'em digital?

I'd lean toward the 1Spot with just six pedals, unless there's some odd requirement or a noise problem. You're only out a few bucks if it turns out you need to buy something else later.

the pedals are a planet waves tuner, fuzz factory, tubescreamer, proco rat2, phase 90, and a Carbon Copy v2, all into the front of a deluxe reverb, no effects loop.

as far as wierd requirements, im not sure. Im probably going to want room to grow though, idk if id get a 6 spot supply. eight sounds about right. what do you guys think?

The 1-Spot combo pack comes with an 8-position power cable, and should be fine with that setup. $30 at your favorite musical equipment retailer.

VL Iso5... I power 8 pedals and a tuner with it. I use two Y cables and the power line out on my tuner. It has four 9v isolated outlets and one 12v and one 18v, all for a mere $109. I think it's the best value power option out there after the 1Spot.

I use a T-Rex Chameleon. I've been using it for over a year. AWESOME unit. 9/ 12/ 18 volts, 300ma, isolated inputs. Awesome.

Only one issue: does NOT work with MXR Chorus pedal (the long yellow pedal). It's the MXR's fault. Something in the pedal doesn't agree with the Chameleon.

Also, I suggest staying away from the PP2. Not enough ma to power a lot of my pedals. Nova Delay would NOT run with PP2+. Well, it "worked," but just not very well.

No hijacking here but answer me this:

I run a Boss TU2-ZenDrive-Keely Tubescreamer-Wampler Super Plexi-MI Audio Crunch Box-Boss DD6-Aqua Puss Delay

I use only a one spot. Is this enough power for the pedals? Sounds ok to me but am I missing something? It says it handles 1700ma total, is that enough? Would anything sound bettter at 18v?

The iso-5 or fuel tank Jnr are two that would top my list. And in that order.

so the 1-spot sounds like a deal and a half, but should I be worried about noise with it? I run:

strat -> fuzz factory -> planet waves tuner -> phase90 -> tubescreamer -> Rat2 -> mxr carbon copy delay -> deluxe reverb

+1. I run 6 pedals off it (including Line 6 DL4) with no problems/noise issues.

Pedal Power 2
Burkey Flatliner
T-Rex Fuel Tank
Iso-5
Cioks DC10

I also had a 1-spot in the past, the one from Godlyke, and it powered about 11 or 12 pedals I think. You might want a buffer though because the inputs are not isolated. I currently use an MXR CAE-403, and love it, but that might be more than you need at this point.
