One of his best versions, for sure. Mind-melting and gut-wrenching at the same time! That whole DVD is full of premium stuff, and I was lucky enough to find it on the clearance rack of my local used book store (in near-mint condition) for $3!

Nobody ever can touch SRV, gone to soon, but left so much behind for years and years study for future generations.

His tone at that Mocambo show is just ridiculous. The best live strat tone I've ever heard.

The El Mocambo is some of my favorite SRV, and my favorite Strat tone ever! He was still young and hungry on this one, and out to prove something. Not that I don't love later SRV, but this early stuff just has something extra IMO.

that may be the first srv tune i heard and was just floored. after listening to blues thru the decades, i knew he was something extraordinary. RIP stevie. we miss you.
