Julian Lage and Jorge Roeder

Is Julian Lage on the cutting edge?
playing here with Jorge Roeder

Their interaction is amazing

I see Julian (only 22) rising through the masses of one of the most competitive
fields to the top .001% of players.

Whoa... starting at 2:50, it really gets scary. 4:00, too!

I absolutely love his playing, but what you mentioned is one of the things I always come away with after listening to him. The experience seems so child-like and fun for him. Cool that you could be there to hear this in person.

Interesting that no one was using sheet music (as I recall) so they had the entire two sets memorized.

He talked to just about everyone in the room as well. About as friendly a guy as you will find. I keep hoping he will offer Skype lessons because I would love to talk about his approach.

Funny but I have played that same stage and stood pretty much in the same spot and I didn't sound like that.....must be the guitar.
Julian was drawn to the guitar at the age of 5.
That youthful joy was discovered at that age
and is as important as anything else.

That made me think of others that smile when playing
Robben Ford
Mike Stern
who else?
It's a simple way to emotionally connect with the instrument.

I love this; it's been in one of my youtube playlists from the day I first came across it. Whenever I talk about technique w/ a student I always point them to Julian.
