Unhappy Fx Loop problems... HLP guys

Guys Im having a little problem.
I have an Orange rockerverb 50 head and when I put anything through
fx loop I loose volume and some tone. I read about it on internet and people wrote about some bigshot buffer pedals for unity gain. Since im not too rich I was wandering If I could just build my own JFET based buffers for the fx send and fx return and would that help?

Tnx in advance

Ivan

Yep, Jack Orman has got a simple buffer design that could help.
