Saw a Richie Kotzen Strat last night.
I saw a guy playing an MIJ Kotzen Strat last night.
As soon as I saw the Pearl Tuners, I thought it might be one. He turned and there was that beautiful Blonde Burst, MOP Guard, and gorgeous Abalone Dots on Maple. Sounded amazing. Didn't get to speak with him long after, but was shocked that I knew exactly what it was, and that it also came in a Wine Burst. (Anyone here on TGP usually spend excessive time looking at Guitars online!!) I am not a Strat guy, but I always said that if I was to get one, it would be this model.

I don't like gold hardware but that's a great strat. I've never een one but they supposedly have a big neck. Is there anywhere to buy one in america?

Maybe used but not new in the US I believe. I think they are made for the foreign market. There are two on ebay for ~$1800 plus $100+ shipping from Japan. One is listed as from Ca, but if you read the auction, it ships from Japan. I'd love to try one as I've also heard the necks are big which is a big plus for me.

True wedding players guitar.
The color of the body, pickguard, gold hardware and maple neck... I cant think of any other, more visually adequate instrument for weddings

I have an older 90's Kotzen strat. No flame on the body but the neck has some nice flame to it. Really nice acoustic resonance and one of the warmest sounding Swamp Ash/Maple strats I ever picked up.
Its a great player. The neck is a good bit thicker than my old Eric Johnson and most other off the wall strats. Wouldn't call it huge though. The jumbo frets and flatter radius make for a very playable neck. Stock pickups were just ok; really average sounding. I put in some flat pole Lollar specials and redid the electronics. Totally woke up the guitar and turned her into a super versatile firebreather. No question, one of the best signature guitars out there. I saw Kotzen live once and he played the Tele exclusively at the time. Sounded amazing too. |

He got it from Japan and did say he liked large necks, and this one was perfect for him.
