NAD Vox Night Train users chime in

Ive had the LNT for a few months and love it, but wanted something to replace my Jet City 20 Head for gigs. Picked up a NT for a great price and its a nice amp with loud chimy cleans and the breakup is Voxy on the Bright mode and more Marshall on Thick. Should work well for its intended use.

What tubes are you NT users using? This has a full boat of Sovteks so I'm thinking JJ's in the power section and a mix of NOS and new in the preamp.

I have a JJs in the power section and Mullard 12ax7s. God, I love that little amp!

Got to spend the last couple hours going over the NT.

For starters this thing has massive transformers. The amp is incredibly heavy given its size.

This is no one trick pony. There many shades of clean to broken up tones on Bright Mode. The 3 bands of EQ are very responsive, and cranking the Master unleashes loads of punch, as well as turning the gain up yields many shades of overdrive all very usable. A TS overdrive is perfect for bumping gain levels for crunchier rhythms and sustain for leads. Thick mode is a big jump in girth and gain and is also very versatile for low volume playing as well as full volume screaming leads. It's a fun amp that works well with my Strat Tele and dual humbucker Hamer.

Cracking my LNT open tonight. Can I still be in the club with the little guy? I'll chime in (har har) tonight how I like it.

The Night Train is a very well built amp.

Many agree that quality components went to that amp. DO NOT get suckered into replacing the transformers or adding a choke - you'll get nothing in return for the effort... especially since the NT already has an over-sized transformer.

I've used/abused mine for small clubs or in places that have really good PAs:

... and it leaves me satisfied.

For the record: Mine has JJ power tubes and EHX pre-amp tubes.

JJ tubes will take away the harshness. I tried ECC81 in v2. Takes pedals better.
