pre amp and reverb tube question , carr slant 6V

i have a good telefunkin 12az7 i want to put in my carr slant6 , iam "guessing" V1 ? would be for the clean channel which iam most interested in helping out insted of the over drive channel, and a nos 12AU7 i want to put in to tame the reverb down like i use ot do in my old deluxes, iam thinking most likely V1 for the clean channel, but for reverb, would it be V5 or V6 ? thanks......

The tube layout is in the manual, and the manual is posted on the Carr site - if you want to help yourself in the future.

If the Telefunken is a 12AX7 (not 12AZ7), then try it in V1 (closest to the input jack) for your clean.

The reverb driver 12AT7 is close to the V1 12AX7, but closer to the back of the amp. If you face the amp, reach over the back, and curl your hand under the left side, the first tube you'll encounter is the reverb driver 12AT7. The two miniatures (12AX7) further in, toward the front of the amp (still on the left side) are V1 (far left) and V2. V1, V2 and the reverb driver form a triangle on the left side.

Have fun with your swap. I'm wondering if the Telefunken makes you want to turn the clean channel gain up a little bit - that was my inclination when I tried that swap. Should tighten up the bass a little, too.

the reverb driver turned out to be a JAN 5814, i looked it up and i guess thats the same as the 12AU7 ? iam asuming if i put a stronger 12AT7 that it calls for the reverb would really be strong.

You've got that exactly correct. The reverb would sound stronger with the 12AT7 that the circuit originally was designed for.
