Potentiometer suggestion

What do you ladies and gents recommend as the best quality pots for a pedal build? Thanks!

16mm Alpha pots are used in about 99% of boutique and DIY gear, though they're not the highest quality of all pots.

That's what I always wondered... I mean if your gonna put out a pedal that costs over $100 to $200 - put some better pots in it!

People say this pretty often as if Alpha pots aren't any good. Really, Alpha pots come in a huge array of values and tapers compared to many other offerings and are extremely reliable. Its not like 16mm alphas are failing left and right.

If you want really exotic pots then go with Clarostat or PEC or maybe old stock Centralab if you can find them. You can forget about small enclosures or audio taper though. Lots of high end pots only come in linear and the cost starts around $12 a pot.
