Curious, if you buy Reaper does that get you updates when they change versions?

Yes. When you load it up it'll prompt you to download the updates, and they're updating it allll the time.

Also, you don't even necessarily have to buy it either, because even on the evaluation version it never forces you to buy a license it just makes the start up longer if you don't have it registered. But for $40...I don't see why you wouldn't buy it if you ended up using it as your primary DAW.

Yes, all updates are free.....through two versions. If you purchase V4 you will get free updates through the end of V5.

It is $60 for a non-commercial license. The trial version is indeed non-crippled and non-expiring, but if you continue to use it you do have to buy it....unless your integrity is worth less than $60, which would be kind of sad.

I bought a new notebook last week and Reaper was the first thing I downloaded. Glad I waited to check out the compatibility before buying the license. Just downloaded v4 (which already has a new revision, btw).

I love working in Ableton but I think I'm going to give Reaper a try as well. I've heard so many good things about it.

So strange - I loaded up Reaper yesterday and it said: "New version: please visit REAPER website to download version 3.77."

I wonder why they didn't tell me about 4.0 then?

That is strange for sure. After reading the OP I opened Reaper 3.77 and went to the "check for upgrade" which led me to the download page for Reaper 4.0 and the latest user manual. As usual, the upgrade went quickly and smoothly. I LOVE Reaper!

I'm on 3.76 so maybe that's just part of their rollout strategy - who knows!
