Ibanez em-5 Echomachine vs MIJ Boss DD2/3?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has ever compared the Ibanez em5 to either a MIJ Boss DD2 or MIJ DD3, and how did it hold up?

I have a MIJ Boss DD2 which is my absolute favorite--it sounds fantastic on cleans AND distortion. I'm planning on send the DD2 to Keeley to get the fx loop mod, and use it with a chorus pedal for my clean delays, and pick up ANOTHER delay pedal to use for my high-gain lead playing.

I love the DD2 so much, but thought I may give the em5 a try, as it is much cheaper, and many people seem to have nothing bad to say about it...

Your thoughts?

EM5 is quite different from DD2. As I understand it, Ibanez built some tube screamer type circuity into a digital delay to get some warmth on the repeats. The best thing about the EM5 is that if you peg the repeats it won't go into oscilation but simply repeat what you feed into forever.

The DD2 can probably do that too but its easy to dial in live with the EM5.

Funny thing is I sold mine because I thought it could not handle any kind of level without distorting. Then I saw the schematic and saw the diodes to ground! It was a cool pedal that I wish I had kept. The DE7 is a good replacement.

I love the EM-5. It sounds better than any of the Boss delays, but it also has a pretty short delay time.

Well, I just got an Em-5 from the emporium.

Hope it sounds as nice as everyone says!

I REALLY loved the EP-3 I had, but needed money, so it got sold.

Someday, I'll pick up another.

I used to own the EM5 but sold it. I'm kicking myself now.
