Bigsby on a Les Paul studio?

So I finaly have a Les Paul I want to keep. Its a black 1997 Studio. Would a Bigsby work on this guitar? I would love a trem system on it but am not knowledgable about bigsby having never owned one.
Do they work well and stay in tune?
Any links to where I can get one that will fit would be great. The hardware is gold so it would have to be a gold one.
Thanks

Also have a look at the Vibramate mounting kits - they make a kit for Les Pauls (with the B7 Bigsby) so you don't have to drill into the body here (and yes they make them in gold).

Just installed a B7 with Vibramate V7 on my Studio 60s Tribute (lightback) the other night. Couldn't have been easier. Mini hums are next...

Very cool. Same here. I've been contemplating maybe giving minihums a whirl. I even bought some already. Just need to install.

How does a Vibramate Bigsby compare to a straight Bigsby? I hear they sit up a little higher and there a possible issue with it causing the bridge to rock? I have a new Les Paul Deluxe that is getting a Bigsby but I'm wondering if I shouldn't at least give the Vibramate a try. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Bigsby guy but I figure if I don't have to drill then I won't.

they sit up a few millimetres (the thickness of the plate) - this is actually a good thing. I've seen guys who have had to shim their bigsby's so the break angle wasn't so steep. So if your bridge is rocking with the vibramate, it would be much worse if it wasn't there.

I guess the best thing about them is if you don't like it (or the bigsby itself) you can unscrew everything and it's like it never happened - no holes in your guitar - so if you ever need to sell it to the bloke above, he won't pass on the deal (and you can install them yourself - no need for measuring anything up just screw it in).

I have 2 Bigsbys (one B7 on my '60s tribute LP, and a B5 on my Maton MS500) - both use vibramate mounting kits
