Gibson Les Paul - Refinished??? Headstock overlay

What's up with this 2001 Gibson headstock logo inlay (or decal)?? See the raised clearcoat finish outine boxed out all the way around it?

Is this a bad refinishing job, where the repairman taped off the original Gibson decal/inlay, and then refinished the headstock with black, then clearcoat, rather than replacing the Gibson logo properly with a new one?

Is there ANY possibility this guitar's headstock is factory and hasn't been refinished? Does anyone's Gibson decal look like this under factory clearcoat finish?

I've observed many true Gibson's with logo's like this'n. Maybe a QC thing that has since been corrected?

looks stock to me.

that logo is indeed an inlay, and the edge between inlay and surrounding wood can sometimes get that seam in the finish.
