NGBBGD! (Gretsch Content)

That's New Gretsch Billy Bo Guitar Day!

I scored an '09 Gretsch Billy Bo on Ebay for a song. Well, maybe not a song, but it was certainly cheaper than any other I'd seen online!

I've wanted one for a while, but figured it would be one of those things that I liked the look of, but hated the way it played, so I figured I could flip it if I didn't like it.

Holy crap, this thing is amazing!

It's resonant, light, plays great, sounds great, feels great. It desperately needs a Compton bridge because the rattle-trap that's on there needs to GO!

It also needs a Bigsby. A Gretsch without a Bigsby is like... well, I don't know what it's like, but I know that I don't like it! To that end, I think some locking tuners to balance it out will make this thing a Hot Rod Billy Bo Mofo!

As much as I love the contrast of the goofy pick guard, I think it needs to go. It's too high and get's in the way. So naturally, here are some pics:

Bravo, man! I've been fighting the Billy Bo urge for a few years myself. Would love to find one of the black ones, but the red is so timeless!

Yup. I think the Rev has some arthritis problems (who doesn't) and that's a real easy axe to play a set with and bet it twangs baby, congrats! Way cool!

Awesome. They always look naked without a Bigsby to me also.

It's honestly one of the most uncomfortable looking BUT comfortable playing guitars there are. They are off the charts cool!
