That's a distortion pedal......did you mean the Shiba?

With regards to the OP's post, I think the SD-1 is good but there are other drive pedals that I much prefer, such as the Rockett Chicken Soup and the Wampler Ecstasy. In terms of sound quality they are far superior to the SD-1 IMO.

Right here. Im a sucker for overdrives but the sd1 is my all time favorite pedal ever made. You just have to give up trying to get rid of it after while

I went thru several, but always came back to my cmatmods brownie. Tried the SD1, modded it and tried again, couldn't get what I was after. But there must be something good to it or else the pro modders would not keep selling modded SD1's.

I rocked an od-3, sd-1, and a bd-2 at one time (well...maybe I wish I rocked)
I have gone through a zillion pedals...mi audio, barber, way huge, visual sound, marshall...and ALL of them worked better for me than the sd-1...

I love boss pedals, but when it comes to dirt, barber and way huge do it better imo...

I've gone thru a ton, just to find out that they're pretty much
all the same... well at least for me(and the audience).

So I ended up with what's durable, looks best, and easy to handle on stage.

SD-1, TS-9, FD2.

The SD1 won't get anywhere near my Menatone amp-in-a-can pedals , come to think of it, nothing comes close.

Back when I first started getting serious about gear, around 1990 I guess, I was working in a music store and playing in a band with a guy who worked there, and he would go on and on about the wonders of the tubescreamer.

This was when SRV was huge, and the TS-9 was the pedal everyone was raving about at the time, no doubt partly due to the SRV connection.

Anyway, the store we worked at carried both Boss and Ibanez pedals--I don't even think there were boutique pedals back then--and I would swear up, down and sideways that the SD-1 sounded better than a TS-9, but I seemed to be alone in my opinion.

I've been through a bunch of modded SD-1's over the years, and they all sounded good. I've moved in a different direction recently, so I don't currently own one, but it's nice to know that such an inexpensive, great-sounding pedal is readily available pedal if the need arises...
