How to ID Celestion V30 speakers as Made in England?
Anyone know how to defintively ID v30's as made in england?
I have a quad which orig owner told me were made in england I know on greenbacks it says "made in england" in raised lettering on green frame but have no idea on these. Is there a number that gives a factory code like on a tube? Only pics I have right now: ![]()

Celestions made in China have a code number "50" on them which is usually on a white sticker on the frame.

To confuse you a bit further - the speakers in your pix are NOT the standard Celestion V30 that most people think of when you say ' vintage 30 ' or what's available to the general public. These speakers are made specifically for Marshall to their specs and were first used in the Studio 15 1985/86, though it was in its 8 ohm form; Mesa and Black Cat ALSO contract with Celestion to build different versions of this speaker. In Marshall's case, the difference between the ones in your photos and the stock Celestion V30 is in the mids. If you want a detailed history, look up the thread on TGP " What DO Vintage 30's Sound Like "

Yes, they are just modified and I believe 70 watts. There is usually a white sticker on the side of the magnet that says MIC or MIE

I had that same 4x12 with the Marshall V30s. My favorite cab ever.
