Black Dog- BBC Sessions

By far the leanest, slinkiest, funkiest version of this song I've heard. I forgot how good these BBC discs were. IMHO Page's tone on the How The West Was Won discs had just a little bit too much sizzle and gain on it. Not bad, but it just can't be compared with the tone on this Black Dog cut. The band seemed to have a better feel without all that gain coming from the guitar parts.

the BBC Sessions is by far my favorite of all the LZ releases. Tone, timing, flow, vocals everything is there and it comes out just perfect. Fav track is The Girl I Love, She Got Long Black Wavy Hair and a great version of Since I've Been Loving You.

I dunno. I like the album version a lot more. Is this the BBC session you're talking about?

That's the one. Way less heavy that the album version but cool nonetheless.

I guess I should have qualified that it is my favorite LIVE performance of Black Dog. I look at studio Zep and live Zep as almost two separate entities.
